Excursion to Hvar and Paklinski Islands
With its rich cultural heritage, the town Hvar is a popular destination on the Adriatic and for many visitors, along with Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful places in Croatia. Nearby the coast, next to the main square, there is the oldest theater in Europe, the recently renovated ‘Arsenal’, opened for visitors and for hosting occasional exhibitions. In the vicinity, there are two valuable sacral art collections, that of the Franciscan monastery and the Benedictine convent with a unique collection of decorative embroidery, the agave lace. Hvar and Korčula have been connected for centuries, and the Hvar cathedral was built by stonemasons from Korčula. In addition to its rich cultural heritage, in front of the town Hvar, the Paklinski Islands stretch with numerous beaches and restaurants.
Hvar is an hour’s ride from Vela Luka, and the excursion includes free time for sightseeing the town Hvar and a panoramic ride with a break for swimming on the Paklinski Islands.
The departure is in the morning hours from the center of Vela Luka around 9:00 – 9:30 a.m., and the return to Vela Luka is planned around 4:30 – 5:00 p.m.
